I have been on an organization and declutterization (that’s totally a word) mission since the beginning of the year. I am so sick of hanging onto things that I do not use, need or enjoy having…not to mention all the toys my kids don’t play with and, at this point, I am unsure they ever did.
One space on my list was my coat closet. My husband likes to hang on to every coat and fleece he has ever owned even if he doesn’t like the way it fits. Add in the kids’ coats, boxes of hats, gloves and scarves and you are left with a very full coat closet.
One of my biggest pet peeves are these reusable bags. I know everyone throws the grocery bags all into one and tosses them back into the trunk for their next grocery store trip. But I am talking about the big ones you get from Ikea or Home Goods. You know, the ones you could fit a twin mattress in 🙂 Those are the ones I store in the house because I typically use them for trips to grandma’s house or a pool day at a friend’s.
The problem is they don’t stand up and they are bulky and they fall over and, well you get the point.
These things come spilling out every time I open the closet. And stuffing them inside each other doesn’t help. But I found one little, dollar store item that did the trick.
I folded all those bags up as nicely as I could, after I got rid of the crappy ones. You know you have crappy ones too. Throw them away!
I slid them in and that was it.
Now they fit great and they aren’t falling all over me.
Check one more item off my “To Conquer” list.
You can find some great magazine files on Amazon or your local dollar store.
