If you are a parent of small kids, I’m going to guess you have a million toy cars floating around your house. I would also guess that you may want a great way to store them so said kids can easily find the one they want. Putting them all in a bin doesn’t always work out because they dump the entire bin to find their favorite ambulance or race car. I came up with some fun repurposed toy car storage to store and display them.
This vintage mechanics bolt storage tray was a huge score I found at an antique fair. I thought it may be the perfect place to keep all those cars together in a way that my son could see them and know which ones he wanted to play with. I was totally right.
The tray already had a great teal color and some wear and tear which made it all that much more inviting. All I had to do was wash it and drill a few holes through the back so I could get some screws through it.
Whenever you hang something like this on the wall you will want to find studs to drill into. You can use a stud finder to help with this. You don’t want this hunk of metal falling on your little one.
I think it is a great industrial piece. I love the rusty spots too and everyone has their tetanus shot so we are good. Ha!….I’m kinda serious.
I added this one to a gallery wall in their game room. Cute, right? I do need to add a little something to that dry erase board, it’s boring.
