Ok Folks, the presents are unwrapped, you are itching to get that tree down and now you have a bunch of stuff that all showed up at once and has no place to live. That is why January has always been a time of life organizing for me.
I’m not really a resolution type of gal. But I do like the sense of renewal that a new year brings.
Let’s be honest, there is zero organizing of any kind going on in December, at least in my house. Receipts are flying around, tucked in every pocket and strewn about in the bottom of my pocketbook. The house is just hanging on for dear life before all the gifts get opened and then need storage space in an already busting at the seams toy closet. I do give everything a good deep clean before the decorations go up and there are little touch ups here and there until everything gets put away. But January is my time to hit the reset button, donate some things we no longer need, clean the hell out of everything without a pulse and even get my electronic life back under control!
So what’s all this gotta do with you? Well, January will bring a fun Organize Your Life series here at I Am a Homemaker.
Let me be clear, this is not a “New Year New You” type of series, this is a “Save Your Sanity and Precious Time” type of thing. I really feel that the more organized you are, the easier life is to move through day to day. Can you imagine all the time you would save if your tax junk was all organized from January 1-December 31, if your papers were filed, if you had a bill paying system instead of a pile of mail? How about if you didn’t need to throw half your drawer on the counter to find your tablespoon, or how quickly you could get ready if your bathroom cabinet didn’t look like the pharmacy threw up in there?
Trust me, I’m not going to ask you to hug everything you own and determine if you want to keep it. Let’s just get to the nitty gritty and if you want to keep that shirt you haven’t worn in two years, KEEP IT, just make sure it is living in the right spot.
So what do you say? Wanna come on this little organizational journey with me through the month? Every Tuesday and Friday in January beginning on the 2nd, I will be sharing my tips and tricks that keep me organized and I would love for you to come with me.
