Sometimes the fall is a more enjoyable season to spend time outside than the summer is. The cool, crisp air, the turning leaves and the lack of pesky bugs seems more appealing than sweat dripping down my face. So in honor of the glory of autumn, I would love to show you how to add a fun touch to your patio or deck with this DIY wood lantern.

I teamed up with BuildSomething to bring you these plans and I’m so excited to be sharing them over on their site. Incase you don’t know, BuildSomething is Kreg Tool Company’s site for sharing plans of tons of things you can build yourself. The one thing all the plans have in common is that you will need a Kreg Jig to build them. I have a K5 Kreg Jig and I don’t think I have ever built anything without it.
Head over to BuildSomething to see just how to make a lantern of your own. You can find the plans by clicking here.
If you do make one of these lanterns of your own, please only use battery operated candles in it. Wood and flames don’t mix very well. You could also pop some regular candles in there for decoration but just don’t light them! A small potted plant would also look really cute, maybe a succulent.
