Navy blue, orange and white may be my favorite color combination ever. The orange chairs have been a favorite of visitors to my home and my website 🙂 Buuuuuut 3 kids and 2 years worth of dinners left them a bit banged up and those fabric seats didn’t look quite like anything clean enough to sit on.
With the holidays fast approaching, they needed a bit of a facelift.
Because we use our dining room table every day for every meal, the paint I chose needed to be tough. Of all the paint I have used in my house, there is one brand that seems to be worth every penny no matter what abuse comes to my furniture….Chroma•Color by HGTV’s Cari Cucksey.
Cari and I have been BFFs for years, she just doesn’t know it. I watched her on Cash and Cari, I have met her and her husband at the Brimfield Fair in Massachusetts, and we have emailed and communicated on social media a bunch. She is a super relatable, down to earth person who happens to be on television, and has produced an awesome paint and stain line with DIYers in mind.
The first time I used Chroma•Color it was in the amazing shade of Mohair Blue and I used it on a mid-century dresser for our family room. I still think it was one of the best color decisions I’ve made. Gorgeous, right?
Ok back to the chairs.
I did two coats of paint on 7 chairs and that used the quart almost completely.
I love the toned down shade. It seems much more sophisticated than the bright orange. This picture was taken when the paint wasn’t fully dry. It does have much more orange to it once it dries.
All I had left to do was recover the seats which is so simple. All you have to do is unscrew them from the bottom, take off the old fabric (or leave it on if it is in good condition,) cut the new fabric and staple it onto the chair right where the old fabric was.
Now they have a fresh new look and I am super happy with it. I just need to spray those seats with some fabric protectant to keep stains at bay. Of course, I won’t do that until something stains them and reminds me to order the spray 🙂
One more thing off my To Do list!
