What do you do when you have a lantern you love but the glass breaks? Well find me a glass replacement store that make cylinders and I guess that would be my first choice, but in the absence of that I have a great idea for upcycling a broken lantern with chicken wire.
We were given a lantern by our friend as a housewarming gift and we loved it. It had been center stage in our home for years. Then, somehow, the glass broke. I was so upset. Not wanting to let go of the lantern all together, I had to come up with another solution.
Why chicken wire came to my mind, I will never know. But it was just the fix I needed.
I twisted the wire into a circle and inserted it where the glass used to be. I suggest you wear gloves when you do this because that stuff can get you! Pliers will help twist the ends together so the wire will stay in place.
I added some potpourri and some scent sticks. These thing are great if you have potpourri that you love the look of but the scent has finally worn out.
So now I get to keep my lantern AND my living room smells nice 🙂
If you don’t have a broken lantern laying around, lucky you. But you can still get the look with some of these options I found on Amazon.
