I want to gush for just a second about my friend, Charlotte from Ciburbanity. A year or so ago she had an idea to team up a group of bloggers with Habitat for Humanity. She is always trying to use her powers for good and I admire that about her. Her goal was to find some sponsors, find some donations and use all the talent in all these bloggers to beautifully decorate a house for a family. At the beginning of 2016, it all came together and a home was completed for a lovely family. You can read all about that, here.
Just before Christmas, we had the opportunity to complete a couple of rooms in two separate houses, one owned by Jessica and one owned by Shea. Charlotte organized us and broke us into teams and, with the help of a generous donation from Hometalk, we were able to create some beautiful spaces.
Charlotte and I teamed up to tackle the dining room in Jessica’s house while Kim from Kim Macumber Interiors and Lisa from Shine Your Light gave the living room their magic touch. Here is what it looked like when I got there.
And here’s Charlotte already hard at work utilizing her mad electrician skills.
This beautiful corner hutch was already there and I absolutely loved it.
I got to work on those two boxes which held the Billy bookcases from Ikea. Can you believe I have never been to an Ikea?? Charlotte made some pretty awesome crown for the top of them and give them that extra special look. As always, be sure to attach pieces like these to a stud to prevent tipping.
Jessica loves purple so we decided to keep the room neutral and add a bunch of purple accents so she can change them out whenever she wants to.

This table was a Habitat ReStore find and I used my Kreg Jig to attach some boards together, stained and polyurethaned them, then attached it to the table to make a brand new top.
The chairs were a Goodwill score and Charlotte recovered the seats.
The simplicity of chandeliers like this is always a favorite of mine. This one that Charlotte found, is much like mine.
I think one of the most touching parts of this project is this sign. In thinking of wall decor for the dining room, Charlotte and I were talking about incorporating a Bible verse or prayer when we came upon the realization that we both said the same prayer before dinner when we were kids “God is great, God is good, let us thank Him for our food. Amen.” I love this sign that Charlotte made so much I added it to my to do list. And how about that plate wall? I big puffy heart it!
It deserves one more look.
Here is the big picture. Didn’t it turn out lovely? Oh that bench? You can find the tutorial here.
Now don’t you want to see what Kim and Lisa did in the living room???? Here is a sneak peak. This is the view from the dining room…..Yup, grab a book a curl up on one of those chairs because you are going to love their room.
