Way back in August I had the pleasure of welcoming Better Homes and Gardens (you can read all about that, here.) into my home for a photo shoot. The rug I had in my living room was too busy for the photo so they rolled mine up and laid out a new gorgeous option.
This was my original rug. Pretty, right? Goes great with the colors in the room. But it just wasn’t doing it for me anymore.
Now here is the one BHG brought in. When I tell you I stopped and stared into the room every time I walked by, I mean every. stinkin’. time. Here’s what I loved about it. It was simple, it calmed the space a bit, toned down my big blue sectional and brightened up the dark flooring. That one simple change had such a huge impact on the room, I knew that my old rug just wouldn’t cut it in this room anymore. Don’t worry though, it’s a beautiful rug that I am saving for when I finally finish our home office. I couldn’t bare to sell it or trash it.
I loved my BHG “rug for a day” so much that once it was taken away, I just left the floor bare. It was refreshing for a while, but then I needed to cozy things up a bit so I headed over to Wayfair to do some shopping.
I found this gorgeous rug from Home Dynamix at Wayfair with a subtle pattern, which I love. I feel like it instantly brightened the space and made it more welcoming. Do you agree?
My trunk coffee table (which can be seen in the November 2016 issue of Better Homes and Gardens, YAY!!!) seems to stand out so much more on the white rug. I think it even changed the undertones of the blue in my couch.
So take your pick! Which is your favorite version of this room?
