I’ve heard some design “experts” say that animal heads and images are on their way out. I have to strongly disagree. I still love them and they still can be found around my home.
I walked by a deer stencil for $1.99 at Hobby Lobby a couple of weeks ago so I grabbed it. Inexpensive stencils are always a score. You can find some similar ones on Amazon.
I knew right away that one place I would use it would be a pillow, so I grabbed a plain pillow cover too.
When I opened the pillow cover, I realized that I wasn’t thinking of proportion when I bought it. It was way too big for the stencil. So we had to improvise a little bit.
I figured it didn’t have to be centered. So I moved the stencil down to the right corner. I just taped it in place so it didn’t move around on me.
Before you start painting, slide a piece of cardboard or a magazine under the portion of the pillowcase that is being painted so it doesn’t bleed through.
I just used some black acrylic paint to fill in the stencil.
Carefully removed the stencil and let the pillow dry, took out the magazine, zipped it up and bam!
My 5 minute pillow was done!
I kinda love it off center like that.
What do you think? Does it look like I meant to do that or does it look like I bought the wrong pillow case?
